Aheloy FAQ · Cost

Does Bulgaria use euros in 2026?

Yes. Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026, becoming the 21st member of the eurozone. UK visitors should exchange GBP to EUR as they would for any other eurozone destination. EU residents from other eurozone countries can use their euros directly with no exchange needed. UK visitors should compare GBP to EUR exchange rates across travel money providers, bank apps, and airport bureaux before departure, as rates vary significantly. ATMs are available in Pomorie, 7 kilometres south, and Nessebar, 6 kilometres north. Aheloy village itself has very limited cash facilities, so arrive with sufficient euro cash or a no-fee travel card. Contactless card payments are accepted at Midia Grand Resort and most local restaurants and shops.
